Most of the seats in the galleries of the House of Representatives were occupied and there was a good attendance of members last night when the Minister of Finance, Mr. jNash, read his sixth Budget since ,the Labour Government came into office, and the second he had pre--1 sen ted since the beginning of the ,war. . Before the House went into committee to hear the Budget read. Mr Nash crossed the floor of the chamjber and presented a copy of the Budget to the Leader of tne Opposition Mr. Holland. •An unusual feature was that at the request of Mr. Nash members took part for the first time in the observation of the one-iftinute of silent prayer observed throughout the Dominion at 9 p.m. Mr. Nash completed his reading of the Budget just before this hour, but he had talcen the precaution of asking the chairman of Committees, Mr. McKeen. to ring the bell if he were not finished at that time. When Mr. Nash sat down at the conclusion of his task he was applauded by both sides of the House.
