SWIMMING BATH
FOR PAPAKURA CAMP READY FOR COMING SUMMER Advice of the issue of instructions by the Army Department in Wellington for the complete installation of a swimming bath at Papakura mobilisation camp at a cost of £2620 was received at a meeting of the standing committee of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday afternoon. The bath is to be 100 ft long by 30ft wide and 4ft deep, and it is expected to be ready for use during the coming summer.
A report presented to the meeting by the secretary, Mr. K. L. Usmar, indicated that the delay which had occurred was due to the submission of revised quotations on an improved scheme to provide among other features for a circulating turnover of water every 5i hours instead of eight hours, as specified. This necessitated the approval of the War Cabinet for an increase of £450 in the contract price. The construction and fitting of the bath is to be carried out by private contractors and the erection of the building will be undertaken by the Public Works j Department.
