The art union conducted by group 5, transport and public bodies, on behalf of the Fighting Forces Fund, was drawn yesterday afternoon by Mr. N. McArthur, in the presence of police. The first prize, a motor car, was drawn by ticket 41768, held in the name of Mr. Thompson, P.O. Box 709, Wellington. A Swanson ticket holder won a smaller art union. In all 50,381 shilling tickets were sold, returning £2519, and 25,799 sixpenny tickets, returning £644. The result i? regarded as most satisfactory, since expenses amounted to less than £7.
