The buildi ing was donated by a builder, who ; asked the authorities to accept it as jan Englishman's tribute to the ! colonial troops. 1 Speaking at the opening, the ; Governor said he wished to thank j the men of Australia and New Zea- ! land for the way in which they had i fitted in with the life of Malaya. • I Thev had profoundly influenced the I outlook of the country to war. Wherever they had gone they had made j friends and when the time came for them to move on, Malaya would miss ' them.
