MR. GARDNER'S CAMPAIGN
Salient points in an address by Mr. P. R. Gardner, Independent candidate for the Waitemata seat, in the King's Theatre, Northcote. last night, were advocacy of the abolition of the 40-hour week in essential war industries and the provision of better facilities for the rehabilitation of returned soldiers. The Mayor, Mr. E. C. Fowler, presided. Mr. Gardner considered that a harbour bridge should be a national undertaking to help absorb returned men into civilian work. The speaker was given a vote of thanks.
