The heart of London is getting from its own farms hundreds of tons of meal and vegetables a year for hospitals and other institutions in the metropolis. London's citizens are farmers of 4000 acres, mostly within the most severely bombed areas. They own 1500 head of pedigree cattle, 3000 pips, 7000 head of poultry and SDO sheep. In one year ot "blitz" these farms run by the London Countv Council produced more than they "ever did before—36o.ooo eggs. 550.000 gallons of milk. 351 tons of meat, 166S tons of vpgeiabk-s and SI ions of fruitIn London.- parks 200 acres arcbeing worked by borough councils for food-growing and sheep on 600 arm-.
