SLOOP AUCKLAND
SINKING ANNOUNCED British Official Wirolrs*. Rec. 2 p.m. RUGBY. July 14. The Admiralty Board regrets to announce that His Majesty s sloop Auckland has been sunk. She was a vessel of 1200 tons with a complement of 188. The Auckland, first named the Heron, was completed on June 30. 1938. She carried eight i-inch anti-aircraft guns and seven smaller.
