M.P.. presided at last evening's meeting of the Olahuhu Borough Council. PRESENTATION.—Prior to general business a presentation was made by the Mayor to Mr. \V. Beck, who for a lencthy period had occupied the position of engineers assistant. Complimenting Mr Beck on the very loyal and efficient service rendered. Mr. retrie also thanked him for carrying on the position of secretary tor the Emergency Precaution Scheme and presented him with an inscribed fountain pen. The director ndvisrd that the strict inspection of cattle for slaughter could only be brought about by the district being incorporated in the abattoir area, as was previously sut-gested.
