FOUR POISONED
ONE CASE FATAL j FREEZING WORKS EMPLOYEEsj Suffering from some form of food poisoning, four employees of the Westfield Freezing Company's works were suddenly taken ill at the works shortly before two o'clock this morning. Dr. Vincent D. Griffen. of Otahuhu, attended the men. who were taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John ambulance. On the way to the hospital one of the men died, but the others were treated at the casualty department and discharged. The victims were:—
Mf. George Matthews, married, aged 25, of Federal Street, City. Mr. Edmund Tetai, aged 26, of 98, Franklin Road, Ponsonby. Mr. J. G. Cullen. aged 42, of 21, Edinburgh Street, Newton. Mr. Leonard Grundy, aged 40, of 22, Clevedon Road, Parnell.
It is thought that the men may have drunk some soup from a cooking urn. The police and Health Department are making investigations.
