INCOME TAX
TERRITORIAL PAY LIABILITY OF MEN Members of the Territorial Force attending camps or courses rcceive home defence .rates of pay, and this, according to advice received from an authoritative quarter to-day, is liable to income tax and must be declared. Territorials are also required to pay the annual levy of £1. but are not called upon to pay social security or national security tax on their army pay.
The effect of this ruling is that all Territorials undergoing training for various periods do not require to pay the 2/ in the £ on the amount they draw from the army, but have to declare the total in their income tax returns, also pay the annual £1 levy. The pay of members of the Forces who are permanently mobilised is not subject to social security or national security tax, nor is it subject to income tax.
