DRIVER KILLED

BROTHERS INJURED CAR'S PLUNGE DOWN BANK When a motor car travelling from Auckland to Whitford last night left the road and plunged down a bank into a culvert near Howick, one man was killed and his two brothers wer« injured. The victim was:— >Ir. Mrrvin Ashley Kelly, aged about 30. a sharemilker, of Whitford. [ Mr. Keith Kenneth Kelly, aged 24, received concussion and head injuries. and Mr. Lionel Kelly, aged 27, suffered lacerations.

Mr. Mervin Kelly, who was driving the car, had undergone his army medical examination earlier in the day, and the three brothers were returning to their home at Whitford from Auckland. About a mile and a half past Ho wick, on the main road to Whitford, the car left the road, crashed down a 12ft bank and .smashed into a culvert. It was completelv wrecked.

Dr. A. Kisdell Moore, assisted by Constable J. Kennedy, of the Howick Police, attended the two injured brothers before they were brought to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. Mr. Keith Kelly was admitted and his condition today was fair. Mr. Lionel Kelly was ,treated at the casually department [and discharged.
