E.P.S. WARDEN HURT

FALL INTO A DITCH (0.C.) GISBORNE, this day. The first casualty suffered by blackout in Gisborne occurred on Saturday, when Mr. Harry Smith, of 558 Childers Road, fell into a ditch in Te Hapara. Mr. Smith suffered broken ribs and was removed to the Cook Hospital. Mr. Smith was on his rounds on Saturday night and after placing his bicycle against a fence he stepped backwards, without realising that a ditch was behind him. In falling he struck a pipe in the drain.
