ACCEPTANCES TAKEN

FOURTEEN NOW IN HURDLES

FIELDS FOR OPENING DAY

When acceptances were taken yesterday n t , h « reat Northern Hurdles and the Oreat Northern Steeplechase, star attractions at the winter carnival of the Auckland Racing Club, the most notable withdrawals—although not unexpected—were those of Clarion Call, Rarotonga. Jewelled Oirdle and Black Musk from the hurdle race, and Clarion Call. All Irish (last years winner), and Saecone from the steeplechase. The J; ornw aTI Handicap, principal flat event, filled well, 26 horses remaining. Lou Rosa and Monte Cristo being among those to disappear. No fewer than 39 horses were accepted tor in the Jervois Handicap, and this event will now be run in divisions, each one being treated as a separate race. Th* original stake of £350 has been doubled. and the divisions will form the first and third races on the programme. The acceptors are:—
