NEW CHAIRMAN

POWER BOARD WAITEMATA ELECTION At a special meeting this afternoon the Waitemata Electric Power Board elected Mr. W. B. Darlow as chairman in succession to Mr. S. E. Kennings, who has completed a two years' term. Mr. Darlow has heen a member of the board for 13 years, representing the Xorthcote. Birkenhead anil Takapuna districts. He is ex-chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, is a member of the Waitemata Licensing Committee, and at the municipal elections last Saturday was elected to the Auckland City Council on the ticket of the Citizens' Association.

Several members spoke in support of Mr. Daiiows nomination, and no other member was nominated. Mr. W. R. G. Leighton. as eldest member, paid a tribute to Mr. Darlow. who expressed pleasure at the honour conferred upon him. He hoped tho harmonious relations anions members would continue under his chairmanship during the next year. The chairman's honorarium was fixed at £200 a vear
