COUNT GOES ON
NEARING COMPLETION | j MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS ■ The official count of votes cast at the local body elections in the city I last Saturday should be completed I to-morrow. To-day good progress was made at the Town Hall. The counts nave been completed in a number of boroughs adjacent to the city, including Takapuna, Newmarket, Devonport, Birkenhead, Otahuhu and Manurcwu. without change in the personnel as indicated in the provisional counts. In scrutinising informal votes at the Town Hall, it has been found that some electors marked crosses on the back of ballot papers, and there was a case of an elector giving every one of the -IS candidates for the City Council a vote. At Pukekohe, Mr. V. W. Morley was replaced by Mr. X. G. Winter as the result of the official count. On the night of the election, Mr. Winter was placed at the head of the list of unsuccessful candidates with 521 votes. The corrected figures are Mr. Winter 519. and Mr. Morley 509. The official recount for the Taupo Road Board resulted in the return of Mr. J. E. Story, who had tied with Mr. J. R. Crowther for fifth place.
