MONEY FROM WASTE
• SCRAP METAL SOLD OVER £5000 RAISED (P.A) WELLINGTON, this day. A substantial contribution to the current pat riot it- appeal for £1,000,000 has been made as the result of operations of the Counc-il tor the Reclamation of Waste for the nine months ended March 31. A cheque for £3011 11/ has been handed over to the National Patriotic Fund Board. The chairman of the council, Mr. Charles Todcl, said that this very satisfactory total had been realised mainly through the sale of nonferrous metals, first to the Ministry of Supply and secondly to the New Zealand manufacturing industries throughout the Dominion. Approximately 90 tons of metals had been collected, of which 79 tons had been forwarded to the four railway workshops at Otahuhu. Woburn, Addington and Hillside. Non-ferrous metals were mainly contributed by householders throughout New Zealand.
