SCHOOLBOYS , GOLF
REMUERA ANNUAL TOURNEY. Promising form was shown by many ol me competitors in the annual schoolboys' tournament conducted by the Remuera Golf Club and played yesterday over 38 holes. The championship was won by D. J. Merrington (Auckland Grammar School), with rounds of 84, 77—161. The next best scores were: •N. McKinley (Auckland Technical). 89. 75—164; a. Adams (Auckland Grammar School), 83, 84 —167; J. K. Hughes (King's Coilege), 82, 85—167. Other competitions resulted as follow:—36 holes net medal, 15 years and over, A. G. Evans (Auckland Grammar). 189—48—141; 36 holes net medal. under 15, N. Brenuan (St. Peter's). 176—48—128. Some very promising juniors took part in the tournament, notably two 13-year-old local schoolboys, N. Brennan and N. Whisker. Both had scores in the low eighties. At the conclusion of the tournament the organiser, Mr. W. S. Ralph, congratulated the boys on the fine standard of golf shqwn and presented the trophies. T. Smith, of the Wanganui College replied on behalf of the competitors, expresski,; thanks to Mr. Ralph and the Remuera Club for continuing the tournament, in spite of the existing conditions.
