Rarotonga Pulls Up Lame After Schooling
There -.vac? more work than neual and a fair amount of jumping at Ellerslie this morning when No. 2 grass track, with the poles sft out, was available for galloping and several attractive efforts were repietered. Those to impress moet on the flat were Sir Cameron, Brazilian, Bronzo and British Talent. Of the hurdlers Tidewaiter and Wharemanea did best, while Key Lu and Pertinax shaped well over the steeplechase couree. The best half mile was that of Bronr.o (Toad), who recorded 49 4-se. He looks none the worse for hie racing at the Waikato. The etableniates Brazilian (Teale) and Sir Cameron (Green) completed five furlongs in 1.2, the last half mile in 49 2-ss, and there was very little between them at the finish. Bronze Ora (Wiggins) wae alao sent live furlongs, which he covered in L 3, his last three furlongs taking 38a. British Talent (Gilchrist) completed a round in 1.47, Flylite (Pell) coming home with him over the last six furlongs, the latter distance being covered in 1.18 2-5. Other gallops:— Three Furlongs.—Aero King, 38 3-sa. Four Furlongs.—Lady Acushla, 55 l-ss; Radio Call boat Bournemouth, 50 4-ss; Kara Avis, 50e; Bronze Emerald, 50s; Bronze Crest, 53 2-ss. Five Furlougs. —CaUiTa Boy and Persist- , once, 1.7 2-5; Last Survev, 1.6 1-5; Golden Bonnet. 1.4 2-5; Trig Station, 1.4 3-5; Llandatf, 1.8 2-5; Dublin Show, 1.5 1-5; Ohmaha, 1.4; Miss Valerie and Northland, 1.15 3-5; Stratford, Auburn Lad and Boomps-a-Daisy, 1.4. Six Furlongs.—Royal Message, 1.21 2-5; Golden Tom and Gold Bloom, 1.20 1-5; Valmint, 1.26 3-5; Master Warden and Maori Star, 1.19; White Chief and Flying March, 1.17 3-5. On the poin-se proper Rarotonga (ChapJin) and Tidewaiter (Ritchie) went over five hurdles. Timed from hurdle to hurdle they ran 2.21 Tidewaiter outjumping Rarotouga at most of the fences. After pulling up Rarotonga was showing signs of lameness. Wharemanea (Cleaver) gave a first-rat 2 exhibition over the same hurdles, hie time being 2.21 3-5. Rival (Maria) and Rajanya (Pasooe) started off to go over four hurdles, but Rajanya knocked himeelf and was pulled up at the second fence. Rival completing his task safely. Ringshot (Cleaver) and Night Hawk (McKinnon) jumped four hurdles in the centre, and Bi.squit (Walker) and Sylonyx (Neil) were evnb over the same fences. Sebrof (Turner) jumped five hurdles on the course proper, going round in 2.24 2-5. Key Lu (Fergus) led Selwyn (Baker) and Bcvcrley (Maria) over a round of the steeplechase course. Rey Lu impressed, pulling up exceptionally well. Per tin as (Fergus), Red Appellant (Turner), Lap Up (Ritchie), Agog (Maria) and Gay Sheen (Cleaver) also went a round of the big fences. Pertinax gave a fine exhibition while Red Appellant and Lap Up performed very creditably. Wineberry (Fergus) jumped the sod wall, double and stone wall twice, giving au improved exhibition.
