GOODWILL GESTURE

A work of art by an Auckland artist is to bo presented to the American peopie as a gesture of the goodwill and identity of outlook existing between the two people. An announcement to this effect was made last evening bv the president of the Auckland 'Society of Arts. Mr. TJ. O. Gross, at the opening of the sixtieth annual exhibition. He said that the gesture was a token of appreciation of the help given to art interests in the Dominion bv American institutions and people particularly the Carnegie Corporation. It was hoped thai the selected picture would be on view at the gallery during the present exhibition
