MARTHA GOLD MINING CO

Cabled advice has been received from London by Mr. J. 11. G. Banks, local director and attorney, that the net profit for 1940 of the Martha Cold Mining Company (Waihi), Limited, was £(iI,!»SS. As stated in the "Star" on May 8. the directors, at the annual meeting on May 29, will recommend a final dividend of 9d a share, making 1/3 for the year, or 25 per cent, unchanged. The profit for the year shows a fall of £262. compared with last year, when the amount was £62.250. In 1938 the profit was £63.342. The year's dividend absorbs £61,988. leaving £5968 to be carried forward. The sum of £5756 was brought forward from 1939. •Higher gross profit was recorded in 1940 than in 1939—£ 150.521 against £137.070. The amount necessary to provide for New Zealand and British income tax has increased from £70,217 to £84.072. Depreciation was written off to the extent of £4249.
