JUDGE GIVES ADVICE
"I thoroughly agree with this rider," said Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court to-day, when commenting on a jury's recommendation. following conviction of a halfcastc Australian aborigine for interfering with young boys who had accompanied him to a picture showthat the parental control of the boys concerned should be inquired into.
'In qll big cities there are men of undesirable character in the matter of sex, and parents should make it known to their young children, boys and girls, that they should not get into conversation with strange men The children should be warned not to accost strangers, not to ask monev or to accept money from strange men, not to accept ice-creams or lollies, or be taken to the pictures " He also thought that the police, on observing children on the streets unreasonably late, might help by giving them advice to get home Asked by his Honor about the children in the case under review Mr. N. I. Smith, for the Crown, said inquiries had been made about their parental control, and he undertook to bring the matter to the attention of the Child Welfare Department
