OBITUARY

MRS. J. M. CARLSEX

The death has occurred of Mrs Julia Mary Carlsen, of 14. Sherwood Avenue, Grey Lynn, at the age of 84. A member of an Auckland pioneer family, Mrs. Carlsen was born in Auckland and was the daughter of Mr. J. W. Reading, a barrister, and granddaughter of Mr. William Greenwood, of Greenwood's Corner. She spent much of h clearly life on the Coromandel and Thames goldfields and became well known as a social worker £ind singer. Mrs. Carlsen has a'ways maintained her interest in cha itable work. She is survived by four sons and four daughters, and there are 18 grandchildren.
