"CHEERS FOR MISS BISHOP"
AT CIVIC THEATRE FRIDAY
Thrilling romance arid poignant dramsj sweep through the intensely emotional picture which is unfolded in Richard A.-, Rowland's '"Cheers for Miss Biehop, ' which will begin, screening at the Civic Theatre on Friday. The film is a tribute to the brilliant directing talents of Tay Garnett and the splendid acting of a topnotch cast headed by Martha Scott and William Cargan. The supporting cast in thi6 gripping romance includes such eterling character actors as Edmund (jtwenn, Sidney Blackmer, Sterling Hollow-ay, Dorothy Peterson and Donald Douglas. In addition "Cheers for Mi-s Bishop" introduces Mary Anderson, a brunette who made her screen debut in a lesser role in "Gone With the Wind." The illm has for its background the rich colourful days of the gay '90's when women a.-: well as men shared in the lusty life of a mid-western university town. The beautiful and exciting heroine of this town is Martha Scott, who finds herself sought and loved by three men. William j Gargan, Sidney Blaekmer and Donald I Douglas. This three-cornered romance overshadows, of course, the absorbing background story which deals with the I start and growth of a university. Mi.-> Scott's portrayal of a schoolmistress ageing with the years and her experiences is the kind of performance that people talk of for years.
