HOSPITAL BENEFITS
LEVY BOOK DIFFICULTY
POSITION AT WHAXGAREI (0.c.) WHAXGAREI, this day. Following the introduction of hospital benefits under the Socisfl Security scheme and difficulty experienced through a number of patients not bringing in the appropriate levy book, the Whangarei Hospital Board sought the advice of the Health Department in regard to the position. The following reply was received yesterday: "I have to advise that although every reasonable endeavour should be made to secure production of the Social Security levy book, H is not intended that patients, including non-urgent cases, should be refused admission if their book numbers are not made available." The board decided to rescind a m-evious resolution calling for the production of coupon books of nonurgent cases before admission to hospital.
