i ' -• MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. (OC -> TUAKAU. Sunday. A fatal accident occurred on the road at Pukekawa on Friday ni*ht The victim was:— Mr. Mathew James Cooney, aged ?5 single, third son of Mrs *F Cooney. of Whangarata, Tuakau and the late Mr. P. J. Cooney. Mr. Cooney set out early on Friday night on a motor cycle to visit the home of Mr. G. Morrison, of Pukekawa. About 8.15 o'clock he was discovered by one of Mr. Morrison s neighbours lying injured on the roadside with the motor cvcle and a dead dog near by. The indications were that he had collided with the dog and been thrown from the machine. He lost consciousness pefore he was able to explain what had happened. The injured man was attended bv a doctor at Mr. Morrison's home but died early yesterday morning Mr Cooney was an electrician, and had lately been working in Auckland. An inquest was opened yesterdav by the district coroner, Mr C K iLawrie, and adjourned.
