FRACTURE OF LEG
SOLDIER HIT BY CAR DRIVER FAILS TO STOP (0.C.) HAMILTON, Sunday. A compound fracture of one leg was suffered by Private John Brighouse, aged 39, when he was struck by a motor car on the Great South Road outside the Hopu Hopu camp on Friday evening. Private Brighouse was standing on the east side of the road, ■when a car travelling north left the main carriageway and knocked him down. The car did not stop, f The injured man was removed to the Waikato Hospital. His condition is fairly serious. Private Brighouse, who is a married man, was a school teacher in private life and came from North Auckland.
