It serves no good purpose washing dirty linen, but it can hardly be denied that the association was not in the best of condition when he assumed office, while the position to-day is- certainly very gratifying. The membership has never been higher and the financial position could hardly be more sound. Possessing that quality of straight speaking that seldom achieves overwhelming popularity, "Bill" Kendall has consistently placed self and limelight secondary where the interests of the returned men are concerned. His fights have been many on their behalf and they have been hard, but they have also not been waste of time for they have borne success. His position as president has been frequently contested, and the fact that he has always been returned with a handsome majority is eloquent testimony that the Diggers see in him a man who is prepared to do the Job without fear or favour and without any element of personal aggrandisement. ♦ + + + COMING EVENTS N.Z.R.B.
