CANCER RESEARCH
New Zealand was ideally situated for statistical research, particularly in the field of cancer, said Dr. H. Gaudin, secretary of the Auckland division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society and registrar of the hospital consulting committee, at a meeting of the society's committee yesterday. He said that after studying in the past year the accumulated records of 10 years at the hospital he and the medical committee had become convinced that the Dominion was an ideal place for undertaking this valuable work. Knowledge of what was happening to individuals was easily obtainable and it had been possible to keep track of most people who had been treated. He referred to the work of the consulting committee at the hospital whose duty it was to interview any suspected cases. He em[phasised the importance of seeking 'advice within the first two months.
