NEWMARKET RED CROSS
The annual meeting of the Newmarket sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was presided over yesterday i by the president, Mrs. J. J." Sullivan, ! who stated that 1000 knitted articles ' had been sent overseas during the ! year and £40 had been spent this i month on clothing for distressed civilians in London. Appeals for i clothing in June of last year from j Ellerslie and Training College . emergency hospitals had been responded to. The Red Cross shop had been successfully conducted since June, 1940. Classes in first aid and other branches of emergency precautions work had been held, 276 students having passed examinations. A vote of thanks for her work was passed to Mrs. Sullivan, who did not seek re-election. , i The following officers were elected: i Patrons, Mr. and Mrs. S. Donaldson; president, Mrs. P.
