ONEHUNGA PIONEER.

90TH BIRTHDAY THIS WEEK.

One of Onelmnga's earliest re-idents, Mr. .lames Carney Blakey. of Crey Street, Onehuitga, will celebrate his OOtli birthday on Saturday. Mr. Blakey was born at Shot ley Bridge, Durham, and came to Auckland with his parents at the age of eight in the ship Spray of the Ocean. He has resided continuously at Onehunga for the past 70 years. His father, Mr. T. O. Blakey, was the third Mayor of Onehunga in 1878, and was again elected Major in ISBI.

Mr. Blakey joined his father's business and worked for 75 years, retiring on the death of his wife 11 years ago. He still enjoys good health.
