HEAVY EASTER TRADE.
SHORTAGE OF ENGLISH SALT.
BAKING SODA ADVANCED
Auckland wholesale grocery merchants reported extremely heavy trading conditions during the whole of last week in executing retailers' orders prior to the Easter holidays. With a short working period this week also they anticipate that all departments will be kept going at full pressure. In the tobacco section the midmonth deliveries are being commenced to the country districts to-day, and will be made in the city and suburban areas to-morrow. V. ashing Powder.—Although stocks are no* becoming depleted, merchants advise that limited supplies of a well-known brand are still available. Another well-known brand, tbe small size of which has been unprocurable lor some time, is again available. English Salt.—Supplies of English salt In 51b bags are extremely short on spot, with no further supplies anticipated for some weeks. In the meantime merchants are executing orders with Australian and Canadian. 81-rarboi.ale or Soda.—The agents have advised an advance of approximately £2 per ton on the f.o.b. price. effecXlvo immediately. China Tea.—Supplies of China buds on spot are now completely exhausted In most quarters, with no immediate prospects of replenishing supplies. Wholesale Current Prices.
