F " W - Doidge, M P., travelled to Wellington by train last night. Major A. B. Siewrright, New Zealand Army Legal Department, has been appointed legal staff officer of the Centra] Military District.
Squadron-Leader A. C. McArthur, chairman of the selection committee oi the Royal New Zealand A' r Force, travelled to Palmerston North last night. Dr. W. X. Benson, professor of geology at Otago University, has been elected an honorary life-member of the Royal Society of New Zealand in honour of his admission as a Fellow of the Royal Society. * Governor-General Richard Brunot, special envoy oi General de Gaulle to French possessions in the Pacific, who travelled to Wellington last night to meet representatives of the Government, is expected to return to KncUaod on Friday after a short visit to Rotorua. His Excellency and Madame Brunot will leave on the next Pan-American Airways' Clipper for N«r Catalonia.
