A. GIBBS BEATS GLADING AND THEN WINS FINAL. (0.C.) HAMILTON. Monday. By defeating O. Armstrong 3 up in the final, A. Olbbe won the Waik&to Easter golf tournament, which concluded at Bt. Andrews to-day. Oibbs had previously eliminated the prominent player R. H. Olading in the semi-final, after fairly comfortable wins in the previous rounds. Although a strong southerly wind blew throughout the day. the weather was fine after early morning rain. Results were as follow:— Championship.—First round: R. B. Oladlng beat W. L. Chitty, 5 and 4; J. Coltman beat J. Sutton. 6 and 4; 8. Cuthbertson beat A. McLeod, 4 and 3: A. Glbbe best O. Wood, 4 and 3; O. Coltman beat A. R. Cleary, 4 and 3; R. S. Chalmers beat J. K. Kenny.' 3 up; H. Dale beat W. H. Coltman. 2 «■"! 1; Q. Armstrong beat L- Brown. 1 up. Second round: Oladlng beat J. Ooltman, 3 and 1; Oibbs beat Cuthbertson. 3 and 1; O. Ooltman beat Chalmers. 3 op; Armstrong beat Dale, 1 up. Semi-finals: Glbbe beat Oladlng. 3 and 3: Armstrong beat Coltman, 4 and 3. Final: Olbbe beat Armstrong, 3 up.
