Smith was e-lou- in starting and Burns took a 4 0 lead before liis opponent took advantage of errors to secure the next three. However, with some fine-angled volleys Burns picked up the next two games and tlie set. Tie one-day reliability trial conducted ' by the Auckland Motor C'yclc Club on ! April 6 was won by S. Wintcrburne riding an Excelsior. Three rider? tied for ' second place. Messrs. L.. V. Perry (Bitza), I E. Maber (A.J.S.), nnd C. K. Plummcr ' (.Tame?). Intending competitors are reminded ' that entries for the next Muriwai race 1 meeting on May 11, when New Zealand i championships and handicap events will ' bo run, will close on April 26.
