AMERICAN ACTION?

EIRE BASES FOR BRITAIN.

WASHINGTON, April 13.

The Administration is said to be considering the extension of the Lend-or-Lease Act to Eire on condition that Eire will give Britain the use of a number of sites for bases. It is understood the proposal is connected with Eire's efforts to purchase foodstuffs and arms from the United States, to discuss which the Eire Minister for the Co-oidinatiuu or Defence, Mr. Frank .Aiken, is at present in Washington.

Up to now Mr. Aiken is reported to liave rejected conditional aid, but the Litest information is that a more optimistic view is taken of the possibilities.
