REGULATIONS INFRINGED

Commenting on the incident to-day, Lieutenant-Colonel E. F. ClaytonGreene, officer commanding the coastal defences in Auckland, stated that the report made by the battery commander was that the vessel had been hailed and told to move, but as the instruction was not complied with a few bursts were fired from a Lewis gun. He pointed out that the yacht was infringing the regulations, which prohibited any boat approaching closer than two chains from the shore or a. landing being made.
