HARD COURT CONTESTS

ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. There was a big entry in the hard court tennis championship.-, which commcnccd on the Windmill Road courts yesterday. F. G. Haddock, the Waikato colt, established a rccord by surviving eight match points In the second set ol his contest with C. Ward, of St. Heller's. This set whs v.on by Haddock on the 28th game, and he then won the third set and match. B. J. Baxter, hard-court champion of champions, had the misfortune to contract cramp after winning the iirst set of his singles against L. H.
