Stalwarts Go South. After 10 years' service as a referee Mr. K. A. ("Dick") Meale. was transferred to Wellington, and tlie report makes reference to the severe lo<s the control of boxing in Auckland has suffered in consequence. Tlie committee nominated Mr. Meale for a seat on the New Zealand Council, and he was duly elected. ihere is. also recorded with regret tlie loss of the services of one of the honorary medical officers. Dr. J. Macky." who had been transferred to Christchurch. Through the death of Mr. Craig a vacancy occurred on the New Zealand Appeal Committee, which functions in Auckland, and Mr. G. Bush was appointed to fill the vacancy, the other members. Messrs. C. F. Sanders and \ . It. Meredith, being re-elccted. The year's activities resulted in a profit of £304. The committcc considered that it was tlie duty of the association to make a contribution to the War Fund, and a sum of £-202 was invested in National Savings Certificates. The membership of the association is still 300, the limit allowed according to the rules. There is still a waiting list.

Schools and Colleges.

Boxing continues to receive support i in the University. Training College, i various schools and colleges, and tlie i association is always willing to help to conduct these tournaments by the loan of gear and the assistance of officials. The standard of boxing in the schools and colleges is undoubtedly improving, and such improvement is in in small measure due to the support given to the sport by the various masters. The erecting of the ring for these carnivals lias always been done free of' cost to the schools. Thanks are tendered to Mr. W. T. Harper (who is a life member hand his staff for this voluntary work, and also to the officials who assisted to control the various championships. Masters and two pupils interested in boxing from each of the colleges and schools, where boxing championships are conducted, were granted privilege tickets to carnivals, a concession which was greatly appreciated. For the first time the Christian Brothers, St. Peter's School, conducted championships, and it is hoped that this will now be a regular feature of this school's sporting activities. The second inter-school tournament between the Mount Albert Grammar School and King's College was this year held at the King's College gym. Parents and supporters were entertained to a great evening's boxing, when some 19 contests were staged". Another feature of this year's work was the introduction of boxing classes in two of the primary schools of Auckland, Dominion Road and Eemuera. Young Gildo, Charlie Linden and various members of the committee assisted in putting the boys through the elementary stages. This year it is hoped to do more organising in the schools, and already the Kowhai Junior High and Westmere Schools are making inquiries. A total of eleven carnivals was staged in the Town Hall. Th<*c extended over ' 12 nights, two of which were necessary
