THE SAVOY OPERAS.
The season of J. C. Williamson's Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company begins at HLs Majesty's Theatre on Saturday afternoon and evening next with two performances of "The Gondoliers." "The Gondoliers" unfolds the merriest of stories, which ridicules the socialistic idea, and is given a very colourful (jetting with scenery and dresses while the radiance of Gilbert's satire and tihe sparkling beauty at Sullivan's music completes the entertainment. The music eirubodiee the light-hearted laughter of the sunny south and is as luminous as an Italian sky. For melodic charm, buoyancy and flow, the score of "The Gondoliers" would be difficult to improve upon in the sphere of English comic opera. Oil Monday afternoon and evening the evergreen nautical comic opera, "H.M.S. Pinafore," will be staged, preceded <by "Trial By Jury." On Tuesday evening "The Yeomen of the Guard" will be revived, and on Wednesday afternoon and evening "lolanthe" will lie staged. On Thursday, April 17, "The Mikado" will be presented.
