MEN IN THE ARMY. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. (P.A.I WELLINGTON, this day. At a meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association, the chairman, the Hon. \V. Perry, reported having received a letter from (general Sir Alexander Godlev, in which he sent best wishes to the association and stated "l have seen Brigadier Hargest and some other old comrades se.veral times and have visited the second N.JS.E.F. They will do just as well as the first X.Z.K.F. if they got the chance. - '
The reply of the Minister of Defence to the Dominion Council resolution intimated that a special medical record section had been set up to compile complete and detailed records of all wound-, accidents and illnesses suffered by men on active service from the. date of their enlistment' to the date of their discharge. This information was received with satisfaction.
Advice that additions had been made to the classes of men eligible to receive assistance from the Soldiers' Financial Assistance Board was received with pleasure. Men accepted for overseas service with the. New Zealand Forces, Territorials undergoing a period of intensive training, and men of the heavy regiments of artillery and anti-aircraft •batteries mobilised by proclamation dated 6/9/39, and men of the Nc.w Zealand temporary staff signed up for overseas service but who have been held back for instructional duties, are eligible for assistance provided the.ir financial circumstances warrant it.
