KATENE BUBBLE BURST AT CAMBRIDGE.

Tho forroer South Island performer Katene was regarded as a "rod in pickle' , for tlie Cambridge Autumn Handicap last Saturday, and the connections of the Great Bingen—Lady Marvin stallion made no secret of their belief.

He was a proved two-miler, and at Auckland at Christmas time he showed that he had regained hia lost form by winning the New Year Handicap in 3.18 1-5 from 3.31, ■which was a pretty good go, even on a fast track.

What was more, he Lad worked extra well before the meeting and, in the absence of the trainer, ''Bobbie" Dunn, he had none other than Andy Bryce, son of the veteran "Scotty," holding the ribbons.

Andy numbers three Auckland Cups among his innumerable victories, one with Man o' War in 1921, and the other two with Gold Jacket in 1928 and 1929, and he has also won a New Zealand Cup with Kohara (in 1927), but he could not* bring Katene home at the head of the field.

As a matter of fact, Katene was the first horse beaten, and he finished in the Never Never —like moet BUBBLES.
