FINE MANUKAU ATTACK.

Green Lane and Dilworth Fight For Runs — Century Eighth Wicket Stand Gives R.V. Victory — Seven Wickets to Hemmingson. With the start of the final round of matches at the Domain this afternoon, the Auckland City and Suburban competition had arrived at an interesting stage. Three teams, Manukau, GTecn Lane and Dilworth 0.8., were all seeking championship honours. Two of these teams, Mamikau and Green Lane, met on the main wicket. With so much at stake. Green Lane was extremely cautious when they took first use of the wicket. The first 70 minutes yielded only 40 runs for the loss of the former Ponsonby A.C.A. players, L. J. Monteith and T. Clark.

It looked for a while a.s if Kerr and Robinson, the latter playing his first game since Christmas, would lay the foundation for a big score, but when apparently well set Hobiiison was yorked by Motion. Nolan did not laet long, n. good catch at mid-on bringing about his downfall. Afiter the tea adjournment three more wickets fell in quick «>uceession, and with six wickets down for 95 Green Lane were in an unenviable I>osition.

The Manukau bowlers were now on top. Their well-varied attack kept the strong batting side in check. Hoskt-ns and Motion, tho fast bowlers, kept an excellent length and had the batsmen on the watch throughout. At this *tage Hoskins had live, wickete for 20 off 13 overs.

In contrast to the (logged batting in the other matches, K. Jones and 11. Simpson, of R.V., scored freely in an eighth wicket stand, compiling lftl in about 70 minutes' hatting. This stand, coming as it did at a critical stage in the game carried 11.V. past Air Force's first innings eeore, which was compiled last week. Prior to the staJld seven wickets had fallen for 00 runs and R.V.'a chances of passing 17.'$ looked exceedingly black. Much credit for the win must be given to .Tones and H. Simpson, both of whom j>as*ed the half century. Each of them collected seven boundaries. Dilworth's. diances of winning the championship depend on their beating Tui outright. The Ttii bowlers took h hand, however, a.nd Dilworth found rungetting ii difVicuH matter. Seven wickets were down for less than a hundred at 4.:t0 ]). in. Roskill once again made a poor showing under n%»'\\ vxcellcnt. lttUiup conditioiis. The Brixton medium-paced lefthander, nemmingson, was rn\ tho. spot throughout. He turned the ball appreciably and finished the day with seven wickets for -T2. Brixton'e batting was not convincing, but it was not long before they jKissed Koskill's score of 70.
