TOLL OUTLETS.
PAPAKURA CAMP. POST OFFICE PROBLEMS. The concentration of large numbers of men in military camps had created certain problems for the Post Office, said the Postmaster-General, the Hon. P. C. Webb, to-day. Not the least of these was the provision of adequate facilities for long-distance telephone calls. At Papakura military camp, for instance, the demand for toll calls by the soldiers was so heavy that, coming on top of the already heavy Papakura—Auckland civil traffic, some congestion had occurred at times and it had become necessary to relieve the position. "Arrangements have now been made to provide six additional toll outlets between Auckland and Papakura, and- it is expected that these will be brought into use within the next few days," added Mr. Webb. "With these additional circuits a greatly improved service could be expected between Auckland and Papakura."
