WASHINGTON". Mar. 30. The American Under-Secretary of State. 3lr. Sumner Welles, said "at a Press conference that the appointment of a Minister to New Zealand was receiving President Roosevelt's active consideration. Mr. Welles disclosed that the former Minister to Australia. Mr. C. K. Il.tuv, has arrived in the United states from Australia and was proceeding to Chiin<rkiii£ soon to take up his new post as Minister there. The Australian Minister to Washington, Mr. R. G. Casey, conferred with the State Department's Far Eastern Counsellor. Mr. S. K. HnrnberV. The ! nature of the talk has not be?n revealed.
