GREEN TURTLE.

IN MANUKAU HARBOUR. Two parties who were, fishing from dinghies on the banks in the Manukau Harbour on" Titirangi about noon yesterday saw a preen turtle. The turtle, which was about a foot long, and seemed to be a brick shade in colour, "coasted" idly past the first of the two dinghies toward the second dinghy, disappearing 'below when only a couple of yards away. Mr. A. W. B. , Powell, assistant director and conchologist at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, stated this morning that what are known as green turtles have been seen at the Manukau Heads, but he had not previously known of otic being seen so far in as. the banks in the harbour. A leathery turtle, eight or nine feet long, had been caught at the Bay of Islands and another, a smaller one, at Mayor Island.
