BISHOP'S JUBILEE.

MESSAGE APPRECIATED. Warm appreciation of the messape of congratulation sent by the Waihi Borough Council on the occasion of the silver jubilee of his consecration as Bishop of Christchurch has been received from his Lordship, Bishop Brodie, by the. Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt. The Bishop states that, of the very numerous congratulations received, there was none that touched him more deeply than the beautiful greeting from Waihi. The mention of Waihi, he said, revived happy memories, bringing him back to the day of his appointment to the parish on March 1, 1901; recalling the enthusiastic | meetings for the establishment of a hospital, in Waihi; and, later on, the gazetting of Waihi as a borough, with all the thrills of the early elections. Naturally the intervening years had taken toll, and had thinned out many of the older residents, but the name of Waihi must always recall friendship and associations on which he would dwell with happy memories. *' The letter concluded: ''Your gracious jubilee message is an honour I cordially j appreciate, and stirs in my heart a fervent response: 'May success and prosperity brighten ihr. years of his Worship the Mayor, the borough councillors and the residents of Waihi.
