CITY COUNCIL'S CONCERN.

The Auckland City Council last evening adopted a suggestion made by Mr. If. J. Butcher to recommend to the (iovernment tlia-t at the forthcoming motor vehicle licensing period no motor vehicles be registered until such time that a warrant of fitness for the current period had been produced, and that no transfer of any motor vehicle be registered until a warrant of fitness for the current period had been produced. Mr. Butcher called attention to the number of accidents on the roads during the past 12 months, which had greatly increased, although mileage had been less owing to teh petrol restriction.
