RESUMPTION IN JUNE.
URGENT QUESTIONS ASKED
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELL! Mi'J'Oy, this day. The first part of the present session was completed last night, wlu'ii tin* House of Representatives adjourned at 8.20 p.m., and unless circumstances arc deemed to warrant an earlier assemblage of members, the session will not be resumed until June 2.1. For the greater part of yesterday's sittings the House was engaged with the Local Klections and Polls Amendment Rill. Although this measure since it made its first appearance had been amended and the contentious clause giving State tenants the right to vote on loan proposals had been dropped, the Opposition held lip the. committee staire, arguing that the contentious provisions of the clause had only partly been removed. in that State tenants in county council areas were still given the right to elect councillors. After the tea adjournment the Lender of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, stated that it. was felt that the Opposition had discharged its duly and that (here would be no further opposition from side of the House on the remaining clatises. After this it did not take lonjr to put the bill through its final stages. As is not unusual on the day before the House goes into recess, a number of notices of questions were given by members in the earlier part of the afternoon, and there were also urgent questions.
