FIELD MANOEUVRES.
FOUR DATS' OPERATIONS.
Advice having been received at headquarters of the Northern Military District last night that the manoeuvres in" North Auckland area were to proceed, a curtailment in the original scheme has become necessary. In consequence, tactical exercises will take place on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the troops returning to their home centres on Tuesday in the case of Auckland men. Men from other districts will return to Waiouru the same day.
The Ist Composite Company, Army Service Corps, and the let Field Ambulance, Medical Corps, which arrived from Rotorua yesterday, went into their concentration areas in the afternoon. Brigadier P. H. Bell, D.5.0., officer commanding the district, and the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, a member of the War Cabinet, visited Henderson yesterday afternoon and, in view of the heavy rain, arranged for the men to spend the night under shelter.
Two motorised regiments and the 12th Artillery Regiment are scheduled to arrive by road to-morrow afternoon from Waiouru, and infantry troops not equipped with motor transport are to arrive at Swanson and Kumeu stations on Thursday from the same camp.
