THE FINANCING OF WARTIME SPORT.
TN the course of its annual report to delegates who meet on March 26, the Auckland Hockey Association states: — With our country at war and many of our players serving in the forces, the activities of the association were necessarily restricted. Representative trophies ■ have been recalled for the duration and friendly games were organised \v lie impossible. The year in review has not been an easy one for the association. The difficulties of maintaining Hobson Park with slender finances caused concern to the executive. Special efforts were launched to raise extra funds and without the large sum ( £229) shown under "donations'' in the accounts, it would have been impossible to carry on. Revenue from summer sport fell considerably, and with still more men constantly joining the forces the season ahead will call for great, effort to keep the association out of financial embarrassment.
